1 to 4 bedrooms: which houseboat to book
Every boat we run is Premium, and inside they are much the same — the hulls, the meal plan and the route don't change. The only decision that matters is how many bedrooms you need.
The boats
- Premium 1 BHK — one air-conditioned bedroom. Right for a couple or a small family.
- Premium 2 BHK — two air-conditioned bedrooms either side of an open living area. The family boat.
- Premium 3 BHK — three air-conditioned bedrooms, for a bigger group or a reunion.
- Premium 4 BHK — four air-conditioned bedrooms, the largest hull, for a large family or a joint celebration.
Air conditioning
The bedroom AC runs from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM on every boat. It is off during the day, when the breeze off the lake does the work and everyone is out on the deck anyway. This is the same on every boat.
What's the same on every boat
The full Kerala meal plan — welcome lime juice, a lunch of rice with sambar, avial, thoran, curd, karimeen fry and a chicken or fish curry, then evening tea with pazham pori or onion pakoda. The cruise route and the noon-to-morning timings are the same too. Nobody gets a better lunch by booking a bigger boat — you are only paying for bedrooms.
Rough guide
- A couple, or two adults and a child — 1 BHK.
- A family of four — 2 BHK.
- Six or a group — 3 BHK.
- Eight or a joint family — 4 BHK.
Each boat takes more than this — up to four adults per bedroom, with the ones past the first two in each paying a nightly charge for an extra bed and meals. So a family of four can travel on the 1 BHK for less than the 2 BHK costs, as long as everyone is happy sharing one bedroom.
