Kottayam railway station is 15 km away, about 25 minutes by road. Cochin International Airport (COK) is 75 km, roughly two hours. We can send an air-conditioned car to either for a fixed fee — add it to your booking or ask the desk. Boarding is at Cheeppunkal Jetty, Kumarakom; drivers know it as the jetty near St Antony's Church.
Every boat is licensed by the Kerala Maritime Board and carries life jackets in adult and child sizes, life buoys, fire extinguishers and a first-aid kit. The crew runs a short safety briefing at boarding. Decks have railings, but toddlers need watching as they would anywhere on the water. Boarding involves a short step from the jetty onto the boat, which the crew will assist with.
Light cotton clothes, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent for the evening, any personal medication, and a light waterproof between June and September. Power points on board are Indian three-pin (Type D). Mobile coverage is good on the lake and patchy in the narrower canals.
All of them. Welcome drink on boarding, lunch shortly after, tea with fritters in the afternoon, dinner at the mooring and breakfast the next morning before check-out. Drinking water is provided. Alcohol is not served on board but you may bring your own.
Yes, and the chef would much rather know the day before than at lunch. Vegetarian, vegan, Jain, no-onion-no-garlic, low chilli and allergy requirements are all routine — tell us at booking and the chef shops accordingly that morning.
Kerala's Inland Vessels rules require houseboats to stop moving at 5:30 PM so that fishermen can lay nets in the channels overnight. Every operator moors from about 5:30 PM until the morning, on a quiet stretch of the backwaters away from the main channel.
A 30% advance holds the boat. The balance is settled on board at check-in by cash, UPI or bank transfer — there is no card machine on the boat, so do not count on paying by card at the jetty. Cancelling more than 30 days before check-in costs nothing and the advance is refunded in full. From 30 to 17 days before, 15% of the total is charged; from 16 to 10 days, 30% of the total; at 9 days or less, or on a no-show, the whole advance is charged. If we cancel for weather or a mechanical fault, you are refunded in full or moved to another date, your choice.
Yes. The day cruise runs 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the 1 Bedroom Premium (Non-AC), with a Kerala lunch and evening tea cooked on board. It is ₹10,000 for 2 guests, plus ₹750 for each extra person.
